CARINA CONNISH | ALIAS N/A | GENDER FEMALE | AGE -THIRTY-FOUR | RACE -HOBBIT | BIRTH SEASON -WINTER | SEXUALITY -BISEXUAL | OCCUPATION -BAKER | ALLIANCE -The Shire/None |
| DETAILS - Alignment: Lawful Good
- Personality: Carina's mind works very methodically. She tends to see situations as a matter of ingredients. This made her a quick study when it came to math, as she always related everything back down to functional forms. To get along with others, one just has to find out what type of recipe it is that they like. And while she doesn't think of herself as a pushover, she is a bit of a people pleaser. In her mind, if she can figure out what it is you want her to say or do, it's easier to just do it than to fight it for some claim of independence. She'd rather avoid confrontation as much as she can help it, keeping any issues she has to herself more often than not. This can cause her some problems, as despite her tendency to bottle things up, she doesn't hesitate to be social, which can end in her just having more to bottle up. In fact, she's much more smiley and happy around others than when she's alone.
Those she's closest to will eventually see the product of this habit. Unfortunately, she'll just let out all of the collected steam as soon as someone's she's really comfortable with gives her an excuse. Just a bit of confrontation, a slight opening and she will go at it. Afterwards, she'll feel horrible and bottle up how horrible she felt about her confession, never really ever being able to get it all out. Since she usually seems happy, she doesn't realize that anyone might catch on to how she works, even though figuring out how other people work is what she tries to do all the time.
Carina is nearly endlessly forgiving. She has a strong belief that anyone can be redeemed no matter what they've done. If you've done something wrong, you have to figure out how much right you have to do to fix things. And if there's not enough right in the world, you at least better get as close as you can. This can lead her to being used or getting herself into a cycle of pain worse than her usual one. At times, she might even forgive too early, unless that person's wrong doing was at the expense of her brother. Then she still believes they can be redeemed, but that they best do it away from her and her family. - Appearance: Carina does not have a very flashy appearance. Rather, she has a more simple set of ingredients that has been mixed well. The most striking aspect of her might be her green eyes, which are framed by her short brown hair. She has a light skin tone for a hobbit, which does not seem to darken even after a long day out in the sun. She has never experimented too much with clothing, often sticking to very reigned in, functional garb. She does love to accentuate her look with flowers, even when she is attempting to look the traditional part of a baker. She adapts her choice of flora depending on the season and her temperament that day, with those who know her being able to guess her mood from flower alone.
As with all hobbits, Carina is not very tall. She stands at only 66 centimeters, which is even on the shorter side for her people. Her gait is rarely one of someone in a hurry. Even when there is a festival on the horizon, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Within these leisurely movements is deft precision. Rarely will you see Carina stumble or stub her toe on a rock. Her small fingers nearly always find their precise mark as well. That being said, no one would accuse her of having a warrior's grace. - Secrets
- She knows a good deal of secret recipes
- She has the potential to be a burglar
| BACKGROUND - Homeland: The Shire
- History: The story of Carina Connish starts simply enough, as does the story of all decent hobbits. Within the Shire, there existed a community of hobbits, most of which lived in a town called Hobbitan. A quaint name for a cozy people. In this friendly little town lived a family by the name of Connish. These Connishes held a special place in Hobbitan, as these Connishes were bakers. Perhaps a strange idea for some, a baker being of particular import. But if Hobbits are known for anything other than their stature or the wonderful way they seem to live with nary a care, it is their love of food. With seven meals a day to look forward to, you can bet that no man of the Shire would ever mistreat such an important person as their favorite baker.
To some, Jorgan Connish was that baker. He had married young for a hobbit and perhaps some might have chided him for this. Perhaps they would have, if Sybil Ternhill had been just a bit less... well clearly perfect for him. The Ternhill family were farmers. Farmers, you might imagine, are intimately connected with bakers. For all their craft, there is not much a baker can do without a farmer, unless they were to go into the wild and gather supplies from the wilderness itself. And certainly this is done with some frequency, but no hobbit would ever rely on such things for their livelihood. No, a hobbit needs more security than that. And thus, the relationship between farmer and baker is cemented.
Now, Sybil and Jorgan may have met because business was business, they have met because the Shire was no metropolis, but neither shrewdness nor proximity was their only bond. Hobbits are no strangers to love. In time, love can beget marriage and marriage can beget children. That which could be beget was begot and Carina was born and long before her brain was writing memories, Mitch came along as well. Practically, though not actually, twins. The pair of them spent their childhood as many do. Listening to stories, slowly learning the trade of their family and simultaneously endearing themselves to and pestering the other families.
While Mitch more belonged on the farm of his mother's side, Carina belonged alongside her father. She had a knack for recipes and an understanding of how those recipes came together to please a patron. If a lass loved a lemon cake, she was sure to want to try a snap biscuit. The joy that came in this endeavor was never ending. For all the accumulated knowledge of the Connish family, there was more to discover, more combinations to be tried. She would search the Shire for every ingredient, going as far as could still be called the Shire. In time, she began to wonder what might be farther than that. But such is not the musing of decent hobbits...
