CANON ROLES
NEW FACES, OLD STORIES
The Canon Roles are simply roles that can be grabbed by most anyone and bam, something's planned for them. Very simple, just apply for the role by way of putting up a bio. Once it's accepted, just post here saying which role you are taking. Very easy.
Some do have starting bonuses but some do have restrictions. So watch for that.
This likely won't be the final list because as things arise, more canon roles may appear, so check back often. Feel free to reserve as well! Just post here stating what you want and it'll be reserved for 1 week.
The following roles are central during the Hobbit. DO NOT TAKE THESE ROLES UNLESS YOU SERIOUSLY PLAN TO SERIOUSLY COMMIT TO THIS SITE. SERIOUSLY. It is possible for some to survive into the Lord of the Rings.
Grey Witch/Wizard: Open
One of the five Istari, a Maia sent by the Valar to Middle-Earth to combat Sauron and unite the free peoples against him. As part of their mission, they are to take an elderly form, use their magic as an absolute last resort, and act as a diplomat to unite the races, not lead them directly.
Requirements: Must actually look old.
Starting Bonus: Complete access to the Magic section, and Narya, the Ring of Fire.
Note: As with all Maia roles, a tight leash will be kept. Add the following to your tracker on acceptance.
Canon Equivalent: Gandalf
Narya
- The Elven Ring of Fire, one of the three elven rings forged by Celebrimbor.
SPT Bonus: +10
Effect: Nullification of fire based attacks. Converts all attacks to the fire element if so desired.
Prince/Princess of Erebor: Open
A member of the line of Durin, the Prince of Erebor is the rightful heir to throne and is the rightful heir of the title "King Under the Mountain."
Requirements: Must be a Dwarf.
Starting Bonus: None.
Note: In theory, if the Prince(ss) of Erebor plays their cards right, it's possible for them to survive to the time skip. Also, I'd invest heavily in Willpower, but that's just me.
Canon Equivalent: Thorin Oakenshield
Heir of Girion: Agrolan
An exceptionally talented bowman. A hero of Lake-Town, the heir to the kingdom of Dale, and the last possessor of a Black Arrow.
Requirements: Must be Human.
Starting Bonus: The Black Arrow.
Note: Add the following to your tracker on acceptance.
Canon Equivalent: Bard
Black Arrow
- A massive black bolt. While originally meant to be fired from a ballista of sorts, it's large enough that one could probably use it as an actual melee weapon if so desired. Because of its size, if there's a way it can be fired, it can cause a lot of damage to anything it hits.
