Thus, he found this method of ignoring the background individuals to be effective and allows him to focus more on the people that he believes can actually make a difference in the fight against Sauron. Naturally, this means that with his fellow Maiar he drops the anti-social routine, though he does keep the hat. It's comfortable for him.

When he does interact with people, he's polite at times and at others unbearably frank. He regulates his behavior based on who he's working with, and tries to be polite when in the negotiation stages with people. Once that's dealt with though and he knows they're on "his" side, he often lets his blunt self shine. He doesn't really think of what he's doing as recruiting people to his own cause since it's really not his cause, but the cause of the people that they don't really know about yet. This is part of why he maintains the polite behavior when negotiating; it's one thing to come across as rude when speaking for yourself, it's another to do so when speaking on behalf of another. On this, he knows when he speaks his mind he comes across as rude to some, and it's best to avoid that if possible when words are the weapon of choice.[/font][/ul]
